Kubrick Header Tool
I’ve noticed a lot of the blogs updating to 1.5 are using Kubrick, which is great, but a lot of blogs look the same now! Time to spice up your life a little with Owen Winkler’s awesome Kubrickr. What does it do? Well first you type in a word and it searches Flickr for all the photos with that tag and that have a Creative Commons license. Pick one of them, then it lets you choose which part of the photo you like and it crops the photo then gives you a download with the graphic to upload to your blog. How cool is that? (20)

I’m gonna say “too cool”.

I’m convinced mind reading works now.
Jeff Minard | February 20th, 2005 @ 2:21 pm
Yeah, I’ll go with “Too Cool” as well.

Hopefully people who use this tool will leave a comment or something in flickr to let us know that the image is being used. It’d be cool to know if any of my photos are being used for people’s header!

wow god this is awesome.

That is so cool! How does it work, I wonder? I’m not using Kubrick, I’ll sees what happens if I use the generated photos with GreenTrack. I’ve been feeling vaguely guilty that I’m still using Sadish’s original photo!

very cool indeed!

Too cool! Especially the selection cropping.

Very smooth, rest of the site seems a bit broken but still a very cool little tool.

Excellent! I just used it to update the masthead on my blog. I’ll probably update it more often using this tool.

I’m glad you all like it. Just remember to give appropriate attribution to the photographers who are graciously allowing you to use their often quite breathtaking photos.

yeah noticed that lots of people who used WP as a weblog engine do have the same template from kubrick lol…the newest version of WP is nice! I’ve installed WP through the fantastico on saturday [the older version] and then upgraded it to the newest version. Just curious of the newest version and then after the installation is done I removed the WP again hihih

Woops, seems like the background color around the image differs from default’s background color!

Would be cool if he could lock the aspect ratio of the selection so you don’t have stretching.

Nifty - of cource its still Kubrik, just kubrik with a photo.. which is progress.
Mine is currently stuck on Kubrik while I redesign and generally thrash out a new look. One thing I love about Kubrik tho is its white space… see if I can keep that…

I recently switched back to WordPress 1.2 because of Kubrick (this prior to Kubrick being the default template in 1.5). Kubrickr makes changing your site’s header very simple.
I’ve been using a combination of my own photos (well, some aren’t “mine”) and Automatic’s image rotator:

Very easy to implement.

The kubrick look will probably be just a temporary phase as I’d imagine a lot of people will use the new inbuilt theme support as an opportunity to redesign their site (as I did).

Anyone know of a similar tool that I can use if I have my own images that I want to Kubrickr?
