Zeldman Switches

I can now tell my kids about the day the inimitable Jeffrey Zeldman moved from almost 11 years of hand-coding to use WordPress. He wrote a bit about his thinking in Why WordPress? I’m about to walk out the door to go to Austin for SxSW, which last year was amazing and I thought it couldn’t get any better. When I started WordPress I had a one or two people in mind that in my wildest dreams would someday use the software, and that drove much of the development. Zeldman has switched, and I couldn’t be more honored. Now there’s even more work to do.

Congrats, Matt! Question is, will your kids know who Zeldman is?

So now goes the line: “If Meyer, Holzschlag and Zeldman use it, why don’t you?”

Congrats Matt! It’s Wonderful… …

Wow! Congratulations! Amazing news. The only endorsement that would be more impressive than that would be if Mena Trott switched.

Hmmmm…. I am being invited to edit your comments, Matt. Are you still messing about with this WordPress installation? *smile*

Great! I am happy for you, and WordPress, Matt! I can imagine how you’ve waited in earnest for these days. Bask in the glory, dude!

Did he switch back? Because both links to zeldman.com are currently 404ed.

Congrats Matt! Reaching Zeldman’s needs for a publishing tool definitely demonstrates that WordPress has very much broadened its audience appeal. A great way to mark your 3 year anniversary of meeting Zeldman that night at the Mexican restaurant in Austin at SXSW 2003.

I never thought I’d see the day…

I wonder what Zeldman is going to do with all his spare time now that he doesn’t have to do all the posting gruntwork!

Congratulation, Matt! But I think you will be more honoured if the person who switches to WordPress is Anil Dash!

I was on the fence and had installed both Movable Type and Wordpress locally on my powerbook. I was definitely leaning your way then Zeldman retooled. I actually found out about it via Dan Benjamin’s site. Congratulations!!

I love being able to say, “I knew Matt when…” I remember when WP was still just an idea. I remember when WP didn’t have a name. I remember when you attended SXSW for the first time, and I remember the look in your eye when you got to meet Zeldman, who you had always talked so highly about, for the first time. Ah, the good old days. I’m proud of the fact that I can say that I knew you when … and I always knew you were going to go far. I never dreamed it would be as far as you have gone, and I can’t wait for the future.

(Cheesy comments are what you get when I’m blog surfing at 2 am and feeling very sentimental. Sorry about that. But really, how could I resist?)
