Leo Laporte

I missed it at the time, but Leo Laporte has switched to WordPress as his primary blogging platform.

  1. Yep. Leo finally came to his senses and just combined all of his different blogs into one via WordPress. On his podcast Net@Nite he mentioned XFN and how WordPress supports it and he gave a brief explanation of how it’s supposed to be used.

    WordPress all the way baby.

  2. Forgive me, but who is this Leo Laporte who commands this much attention from everyone? It seems like every time he craps, there is a blogger next to him with laptop and a roll of toilet-paper. Now, don’t get me wrong, but I think that there are better things to blog about.

I guess I am kind of annoyed with any sort of buzz about him, because of the freak-out everyone had when he switched off of Twitter b/c of its similarity in name to TWIT, or whatever…

  3. Leo Laporte is a Radio Host, Podcaster, Tech Pundit, Best Selling Author, whose claim to fame was a show on TechTV/G4 called ‘The Screen Savers’. He’s made a mint helping n00bs and not-so-n00bs get along on the internet and with their computers. TWIT and his other podcasts are his new platform.

But excuse us for being happy that a “celebrity” is plugging WordPress to a million people. We’d hate to see anyone new discover WP because of him. Not.

  4. He didn’t switch off because of the name, he moved to Jaiku because he liked it better. I enjoy him – he’s geeky enough to relate to me on a tech level, but he also brings a rubber-meets-the-road “here’s how to use this in real life” angle to it.

He was raving about Joomla (sp? – I think that was it) as a blogging platform. I took a look at it, and thought “WordPress does this!” 🙂 Now he’s seen the light too.

Of course, he’s a “latest-and-greatest” kind of guy – that’s why people listen to him. Some feel that makes him fickle; but, if he gets people to pay attention to something, his job is done, and he moves on to the “next” thing. I do hope he sticks with WP for his content delivery for a good long while, though. I’ve been using it for 1 1/4 years, and I absolutely love it.

  5. I don’t know if it matters, but as a regular listener I can tell you that Leo actually switched -back- to Word Press. He used it before, and said that he came back to it because he’s tried all the others and Word Press is simply the best one around. =)

  6. Ioannus,

The only weird thing here is that you do not know who Leo Laporte is. As far as Podcasting goes Leo is easily one of the top 5 most influential people and is doing all of us a HUGE favor by bringing the message and medium into general culture.

I tend to think your comment is a ringer simply because you know what Twit is and even know Leo left Twitter, although you did not know the reason.

So are you a ringer or just ill informed?
